To install LED strip: 1) Measure and cut at marked cut lines only. 2) Clean surface with alcohol. 3) Peel adhesive backing and press firmly. 4) Connect to LED driver (match voltage — 12V or 24V). 5) Test before final mounting. For corners, use L-connectors. Never exceed driver wattage — allow 20% headroom.
No. LED strips can only be cut at designated copper pad cut lines — every 3-6 LEDs depending on strip design (every 1-2 inches for 30/60 LEDs/m, every 4 inches for 144 LEDs/m). Cutting elsewhere breaks the circuit and ruins the strip.
Solder wires directly to the copper pads at the cut line. Tin the pads first, use 22-18 AWG stranded wire, and heat-shrink tubing for insulation. For permanent installations, soldering is more reliable than clip-on connectors which can corrode over time.
Match driver voltage (12V or 24V) to strip voltage. Calculate total wattage: strip watts/m × total length in meters × 1.2 (20% headroom). For a 5m 24V strip at 14.4W/m: 5 × 14.4 × 1.2 = 86.4W → use a 90-100W 24V driver.
Clean surface with isopropyl alcohol, ensure temperature is above 15°C, and press firmly for 30 seconds. For textured/rough surfaces, use 3M Command strips or double-sided VHB tape. For outdoor/humid environments, use aluminum channels with clips instead of adhesive.
